Looking for your next adventure? We are seeking a Nurse Diabetes Educator to work in the Pilbara. This exciting role provides outreach diabetes services under the funded Integrated Chronic Disease Care (ICDC) program. Based in the coastal town of Karratha, you will also be travelling regularly with a multi-disciplinary allied health team including a dietitian, podiatrist, care coordinator and physiotherapist to explore the remote inland communities of the beautiful Pilbara region.

About the role:
  • In this role you will also be supporting the GPs within our Karratha based clinic “Pilbara Health Centre”
  • As part of our practice nursing team you will work with GPs and Allied Health professionals to provide care to a variety of patients
  • You will be a key member of staff in our treatment room providing a variety of services including wound care, immunisations, injections, infusions, chronic disease management, surgical assistance to GP during procedures, INR monitoring, sterilisation, ECGs, Spirometry, ABIs and more
  • In this nursing role, you will be expected to work autonomously, and also as a member of the wider practice.

Experience & qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse with current APHRA registration
  • Post-grad qualification in diabetes education – does NOT need to be credentialed by ADEA
  • A sense of adventure and passion for providing healthcare access to remote communities
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility towards the challenges of outreach healthcare
  • An outgoing personality who loves to travel and enjoys working closely within a team of likeminded allied health professionals
  • A demonstrated understanding of the challenges and barriers that impact upon the health outcomes of Aboriginal people
