Founded in 2019, Centennial World is a leading digital media startup reaching millions of young people every month. Centennial World reports on what's trending and viral across the digital landscape, publishing original content on our podcast, website, TikTok, and newsletter.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Part-time contract position reporting to the Deputy Editor, Digital & Podcast
- Content Creation: Identify, create and source stories about internet culture, the creator economy, and tech and social media trends that align with our editorial vision.
- Video Production: Pitch, script, shoot, and edit video news stories and commentary for our TikTok (@centennialworld), catering specifically to a Gen Z audience.
- Commercial Content: Execute commercial content, with opportunities to work with and attend events for some of the world's leading brands.
- Collaboration: Work with our editorial team to strategise and achieve social media milestones, meet KPIs, and establish a content calendar for potential TikTok series.
- Podcast Support: Assist our editorial team with research for our "infinite scroll podcast," focusing on viral stardom, the creator economy, and the impact of social media on Gen Z.
- Flexible work options between our office in Chippendale and WFH
WHO ARE YOU?
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a digital journalism or social media-related role. Internship experience is welcome.
- Strong camera presence and comfortable filming face-to-camera videos.
- Excellent storytelling skills with the ability to convey information in an engaging and relatable manner.
- In-depth understanding of the viral space, including but not limited to, YouTube and TikTok creators, internet culture, and how users interact with various platforms (Reddit, Twitter etc.)
- Ability to bring out-of-the-box ideas and a fresh perspective to our social media strategy.
- Availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays preferred.
- Prior experience in creating short-form video content is preferred.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as TikTok, CapCut, Premiere Pro, and Premiere Rush.
