About the Centre/Service Doris Blackburn Preschool is a licensed, independent, community-based Centre that is governed by a Committee of Management. We are committed to being an equal opportunity employer. We have been providing children with a play-based early childhood education for almost 80 years. We are situated in Pascoe Vale South and operate funded 3- and 4-year-old programs. Doris Blackburn Preschool is a community of learners that exists in the interests of children’s well-being and learning. We strongly believe that aim is to develop every child’s potential in a supportive and welcoming learning environment. Our programs follow the National & Victorian Early Years Learning Frameworks and we have been assessed each time by the Department of Education & Training as exceeding. Our educational programs are play-based and open-ended, and children to learn because they are interested in what they are doing. We extend children’s thinking through modelling, problem-solving and purposeful activities which help them to understand a new concept, develop an idea they have had or try a new skill. The program encourages creative thinking, independence, decision making and risk taking and provides children with opportunities to experiment, explore, discover and create. Doris Blackburn is committed to child safety. We want children to be safe, happy and empowered, and we have zero tolerance of child abuse. We understand our legal and moral obligations to treat all concerns seriously and to report allegations and concerns about child/ren’s safety and wellbeing to authorities. Work Days of the Role Monday & Tuesday
Hours of Work of the Role 18.25 hours per week. Staff meetings 0.5 hrs. Session times are 8.30am-4.00pm
- Understanding and knowledge of early childhood development relevant to level of qualification and experience
- Understanding and working knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations
- Understanding and working knowledge of the National Quality Standards and Victorian Early Years Learning Framework
- Ability to work in a co-operative, flexible and professional manner with staff, children, families and employer
- Ability to plan, reflect, work and manage time effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to ensure confidentiality of information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence using technology
- Experience working in early childhood education is preferable

- Approved Diploma in Children Services or equivalent pursuant to the National Law and Regulations
- Current Police Check
- Working with Children Check
- Emergency First Aid in Early Childhood (including CPR, Asthma, Anaphylaxis)
- Mandatory Child Protection training
