Job description

Provide technical leadership to a specialist multidisciplinary team overseeing the provision of high-quality Assurance Services | Develop key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and maintain consistency within HCD’s capital program | Be a part of Queensland’s major Healthcare transformation. The Role 

Reporting to the Senior Director, Governance, Risk and Compliance, this is a key leadership role focussed on overseeing the provision of high-quality Assurance Services for client support, reporting, analytics, risk management, audit coordination, process improvement, and project governance within the Health Capital Division (HCD). The Director, Assurance Services is required to maintain a critical point of contact with HCD teams, stakeholders like Hospital and Health Services (HHS), and other Queensland Health divisions and central agencies. This role will develop robust relationships and networks to ensure consistency with the Government's direction in the development of policies, practices, initiatives, and corporate strategic intent. This position operates in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment, which offers exposure to the Department and the broader government landscape, providing autonomy to drive Division outcomes. Additionally, the Director is responsible for implementing continuous improvement processes, managing branch operations, overseeing executive reporting, and addressing contentious, time-critical, or confidential matters.

The successful person

The Director, Assurance Services, will demonstrate strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills in order to effectively manage a team of multi-disciplinary specialists within a complex and ever-changing environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, is imperative, given the role's responsibilities in developing and evaluating ministerial briefings, business cases, and interpreting complex policy matters. You will be an experienced professional with a proven track record in providing sensitive, confidential, and time-critical support to Executive Management within a large and complex public sector organisation. Familiarity with the whole-of-government reporting requirements would be highly regarded. The ability to demonstrate leadership in managing business improvement initiatives within a decentralised business model is essential. Finally, the role requires you to perform under pressure, establish priorities, and consistently meet tight deadlines with a high standard of accuracy.
