Director Employee Relations

  • Based in Paramatta – hybrid and flexible arrangements available.
  • Full Time - Ongoing role
  • $231,159 - $255,262 total remuneration payable

Your role

An exciting opportunity to lead the development and negotiation of DCJ’s industrial strategy and response to industrial matters.

As the Director Employee Relations you will be responsible for working within a diverse team and collaborating with stakeholders at various levels to promote the interests of DCJ’s business divisions and contribute to the delivery of effective People services within the business.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of awards, agreements, and Employee Relations (ER) policies and procedures in line with government policy. You will also represent the Department as the Employee Relations lead on formal consultative forums on industrial issues.

You will also:

  • Drive collaboration with unions, staff, and other key stakeholders, ensuring effective consultation with employees and their representatives.
  • Build the capability of DCJ business areas to resolve complex, sensitive Employee Relations matters and provide consistent, timely, reliable, high quality specialist advice and services that contribute to optimum outcomes.
  • Deliver expert advice to guide senior leaders on consultation change and reform projects, litigation, and the resolution of complex individual matters and issues impacting DCJ.
  • Direct DCJ’s accountability, governance and risk management functions to ensure delivery in line with Department policies, frameworks, and codes of conduct.
  • Manage formal consultative forums across all business streams.
  • Lead a diverse team, with responsibility for work planning, team management, coaching, professional development and resource allocation.
  • Oversee budgeting, reporting and resourcing to ensure service delivery in line with key outcomes and targets.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven leadership experience at an executive level, in Employee and Industrial Relations
  • Extensive experience negotiating with unions and understanding of current legislation and emerging practices in industrial relations.
  • Extensive experience in strategic workplace relations and ethics including strategy delivery and implementation.
