The role

  • Full time, Fixed term (up to 5 years)
  • Senior remuneration package in the range of $170,410 - $213,013 pa (including 17% superannuation)
  • Bathurst (other Charles Sturt campus locations may be considered)

As the Director, First Nations Strategy and Coordination, you will be providing strategic leadership and oversight for objectives and projects within the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor First Nations Engagement. You will be working with key stakeholders to coordinate and drive First Nations initiatives and to promote a high performing culture in First Nations education, research, and engagement across the wider university environment. You will leverage your leadership and expertise in higher education by supporting the PVC with strategic initiatives, performance monitoring, data management, and reporting duties.

About you

  • Proven leadership, including a demonstrated ability to develop a sense of unity, support change initiatives and execute strategic and operational plans.
  • Extensive knowledge of First Nations sustainability, engagement, education and research issues.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, including effective report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including professional and regional communities, industry and public sector organisations.
  • Commitment to applying culturally safe practices in the workplace.

About us

Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor First Nations Engagement led by the Pro Vice Chancellor (PVC) First Nations Engagement has direct oversight of all Charles Sturts First Nations Strategies. The Office is responsible for new university-wide community engagement, cultural safety, and First Nations Ways of Being, Knowing, Doing frameworks, establishment and operation of First Nations Strategy governance arrangements, all internal and external community relations, and institute-wide alignment and Coordination of key work relevant to increasing employment levels of First Nations staff; enhancing the advancement of First Nations staff qualifications through extended opportunities for professional development and academic engagement; working with Student Success to build First Nations student numbers and pathways and improving retention and success of First Nations students. It is also responsible for working with the Research Portfolio to increase First Nations research output and scholarship of Indigenous learning and knowledge through building engagement between Charles Sturt University research and First Nations communities.
