About NSW Public Works:
- part of the , are looking for a Director Heritage, Environment and Planning to join the team and be the Governments peak expert for all Architectural issues related to Heritage Assets.
About the Role:
Accountable for generating revenue of $4M with operating costs of $3.2M along with a team of up to of 30 FTEs, you'll be accountable for the delivery of a variety of projects (most having a quite unique Heritage focus) for government agencies and councils across the state.
In this role you'll be responsible for leading the provision of key services such as Heritage asset advice, asset condition assessment, design and direction of conservation work, environmental impact assessments, environmental planning, and sustainability services.
The role, and directorate, identifies and prioritises heritage project opportunities and needs across all Government department portfolios, and promotes and communicates Conservation Architectural services within and external to government, as part of its overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of NSW's rolling Ministers Stonework Program.
The role also leads the Public Works environmental and planning services team that provides innovative environmental and planning strategic advice and services to State and local government clients across NSW for some of the State's most high-profile and complex regional development initiatives.
To be successful you'll ideally have:
  • Extensive experience at senior management level, particularly within the Heritage Architectural arena, and within the environmental planning area
  • High level business and commercial acumen complimented with knowledge of contemporary trends in building heritage, environmental and planning sectors
  • Demonstrated experience providing leadership at an executive level
  • Extensive knowledge of NSW Government and Commonwealth Heritage legislation and policy ecosystem.
You'll also need:
  • Qualifications and experience in Architecture, with a specialty in Heritage Architecture and/or Conservation management; and additional experience and / or qualifications in the environmental planning discipline
  • A valid NSW Driver's license and willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays.
