Summary of position:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and senior leader to join our team as the Director of Community Services in a growing and rewarding organisation.

About the role:

The Director of Community Services is the senior leader and manager of the Barunga Village Community Care Program.

The Director of Community Services builds the portfolio, seeking opportunities to expand the growth of Community-based care and provide services that respond to the changing needs of client in the regulatory environment, bringing a strategic lens to drive growth, utilising business insights and the experience of the broader business.

The Director of Community Services is an integral member of the Executive Team and as such is expected to make a significant contribution to leadership, strategy, management and policy issues relating to the whole organisation.

Responsibilities of the role:

Client services:

  • Lead and embed a culture of high quality, relationship-centred care.
  • Foster a culture of interactive consumer engagement and support a high level of communication, client engagement and interactive service development.
  • Ensure the Program delivers services which are relevant, accessible, inclusive and affordable.
  • Ensure sufficient resources are available to provide client services to the quality required and to the client cohort identified.
  • Share in the on-call after hours roster.
  • Ensure the performance of all contractors comply with Barunga Village contractor management system and quality expectations.

Financial Management:

  • Liaise with the Chief Executive Officer to set budget and operational targets for Program
  • Communicate, monitor, manage and report on agreed budget and operational targets within Community Program.

Leadership, individual and team relations:

  • Foster and promote a climate that encourages positive workplace culture and team cohesiveness.
  • Maintain and develop a workforce sufficient and appropriate to meet operational needs
  • Provide leadership and development opportunities to Community Services staff.
  • Manage, develop, direct and coach direct reports to deliver high quality service.
  • Manage high level workforce performance issues.

Strategy and Operational Planning and implementation:

  • Participate in Strategic Planning.
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to develop and deliver the operational plan for the Community Program.

New Business Development:

  • Drive growth within the Community Services department by identifying new programs, service solutions, grants and initiatives that will create efficiencies and/or offer improved outcomes to consumers.
  • Apply for Grant funding relevant to programs, as authorised by Chief Executive Officer.
  • Manage improvement or new service projects related to Community Services Program.
  • Ensure seamless incorporation of new service operations into business as usual.

Quality improvement and change management:

  • Foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement, and lead the identification, development and implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure Community Services Program meets regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and manage operational performance data including client feedback, incident data and staff feedback to ensure that service delivery meets relevant quality standards and legislative requirements.
  • Actively support management of quality and continuous improvement across Barunga Village.

Risk management:

  • Monitor risk in the Program, and advise and make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer on emerging or escalating risks.
  • Actively manage identified risks to ensure minimal possible level.
  • Ensure that Program works within Clinical Governance and Workplace Health and Safety Frameworks.
  • Foster and promote a culture which prioritises the health, wellbeing and safety of all people in all Barunga Village workplaces in the Community Program.
  • Respond to high level incidents and feedback in person where indicated.
  • Report mandatory incidents to regulatory bodies as per relevant legislation.
  • Actively support management of risk across Barunga Village.

About you:

  • Post Graduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience;
  • Experience as a Senior Leader managing Home Care Services and Community Services in Aged Care or Disability services programs;
  • Desirable Knowledge of aged care and Community Services;
  • Demonstrated successful experience in new business development or implementation within a Community Services setting will be a plus;
  • Nursing qualifications or experience in Clinical Governance would add great value to this role;
  • Current NDIS worker screen check and or ability to obtain NDIS worker screen check;
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and current flu vaccination;
  • Not be included in the Aged Care Banning Orders Register
