The Hotel
Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 19 function venues and extensive food-and-beverage facilities, the property is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be at the heart of our Rooms Division, driving efficiency and opportunity in all aspects of our business. Your experience and expertise will assist in shaping our teams and our future, ensuring we continue to deliver outstanding experiences to our guests.
- This role will support the General Manager in the overall management and strategic direction of the hotel within the Rooms Division.
- You will oversee all operational functions within Front Office and Housekeeping.
- Work together with operational leaders in EXCOM including Engineering, to foster success and promote a harmonious working environment.
- You will take charge and aid the Front Office and Housekeeping departments in attaining their financial and operational objectives by fostering a positive culture, setting clear expectations, ensuring accountability, and implementing policies and procedures.
- You will enforce and uphold high-quality customer service standards to guarantee an exceptional experience for all guests.
About you:
- Extensive experience in hotel rooms divisions preferably in a five-star environment
- Proven ability to work cohesively and lead by example across multiple departments.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with confidence, negotiate and build relations with all team members.
- An ability to understand and navigate stakeholder environments.
- Collaborate with other leaders in EXCOM including Culinary, Engineering and Sales and Marketing, to drive success and maintain a cohesive working environment.
- Ability to motivate developing leaders to act as entrepreneurs while innovating guest-oriented solutions creatively and profitably.
- The ability to think strategically and forward plan
- Self-motivated with strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- A ‘can do’ mindset to embrace and respond effectively to change
- Highly responsible with drive, ambition, and strong personal integrity
- Working knowledge of forecasting, budget planning and execution
- Strong business acumen with the ability to make sound decisions and understand the commercial implications.
- Highly presentable with excellent networking capabilities.
- High-level understanding of the industry, market trends, and competitors.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) experience with Opera a considered advantage.
