Director Waste and Recycling is responsible for leading the
Waste and Recycling branch and fostering a constructive culture. The branch manages the strategic direction and delivery of
Waste and Recycling services within the municipality through the provision of contracted services, program delivery and policy development. It manages the delivery and performance of amenity services such as street cleaning and graffiti management and the branch also leads the expansion of circular economy for the organisation and the municipality and drives reduction in
Waste and diversion from landfill.The position requires strong strategic and operational leadership, direction and people management competencies, with high level technical expertise, in order to drive the required business outcomes and services of this branch.The director works collaboratively with others across the organisation, taking an active role in contributing to effective governance, organisational and financial management via effective strategic and business planning, and high standards of financial, asset and people management.For best success in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of circular economy principles and practices necessary to strategically manage waste, resource recovery and public realm cleaning services within the City.
- Proven leadership capability and experience, with a particular focus on leading diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team to achieve high performance outcomes with strong coaching skills to develop team capabilities, team cohesion and the ability to effectively manage conflict and under performance.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to use discretion and judgement in a complex business and political environment.
- Ability to articulate and demonstrate benefits of positive culture and values.
