We are seeking vibrant, energetic, and confident female Disability Support Mentors to join our fantastic team in Perth (specifically the Rockingham region). Working with our two special clients, who have diverse and complex needs, requires high levels of reliability and resilience. Your support and mentoring can have a meaningful impact on their lives. However, there will be challenging days due to behaviours and Mental Health issues. It's essential to have confidence and resilience to navigate these moments effectively.

More about the actual job:
Your role is to support our clients with disability go about their daily lives in the way they want, by giving the support they need when they need it. This might include:

  • Physical support: Assistance with mobility and daily living activities
  • Behavioural Support: management of behaviours as outlined in behaviour support plans
  • Medication Administration: help with medication management
  • Cooking:  everybody deserves to eat well so we’re looking for good cooks 
  • Cleaning and household chores: yes, this is most definitely a part of the job
  • Emotional support: sometimes the world can be a scary place
  • Social Support: Getting out and about: more than just coffee, appointments and shopping although this needs to be done too

Skills and attributes we are looking for:

  • You are resilient yet empathetic and patient
  • Practical and know how to problem solve
  • Supportive and encouraging
  • Strong communication skills

Ideal Experience we need:

  • Experience working with complex Mental Health needs - EUPD
  • Healthcare Knowledge related to ABI and ID
  • Experience in crisis intervention and management

What we need from you:

  • Certificate III in Disability / Community Services or relevant industry or lived experience
  • Current Disability Screening (DHS or NDIS worker Screening) or willing to obtain.
  • Current Working with Children check or willing to obtain.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR) or willing to obtain.
  • Australian Drivers Licence and clean, roadworthy vehicle for transporting clients
  • Good English language skills for both verbal and written communication
  • Attention to detail to follow documented plans and for reporting/record-keeping
  • An ability to develop positive relationship whilst maintaining strong professional boundaries
