Marco Polo Supports is an exciting Disability Support company still in it's infancy. What sets us apart from other providers is our unique approach to pair participants with like minded Support Workers to fuel positive interactions and relationships which in turn acts as a catalyst for participants to meet their NDIS goals in an environment that they feel most comfortable. We provide services across the Geelong, Surf Coast and Bellarine regions and also have a HQ conveniently located in Armstrong Creek which has been designed for workers and participants to use during one-on-one sessions, which offers a safe space to build upon social and life skills. Our team is comprised of youthful tight-knit group who are passionate in providing the best services for our participants as well as maintaining a fun and inclusive working environment for their peers.
Qualifications & experience
- Preferred minimum six months relevant experience.
- Up to date First Aid & CPR certificates. PPE & Infection Control training. Employee Working with Children's Check. NDIS Orientation module. New Worker NDIS Induction module.
- Motor Vehicle & Comprehensive Insurance. Drivers License.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- Ability to work with various ages, cultures and ability levels.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships.
- Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills as well as strong time management and ability to prioritise.
- Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write detailed progress notes.
- An understanding of individualised support plans and how to implement them.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Assisting people to perform important daily activities, personal hygiene and dressing tasks.
- Performing home-based tasks such as food preparation, light housework and undertaking tasks outside the home such as shopping.
- Facilitating community access, providing transport to and from appointments, programs, social and recreational activities.
- Providing emotional support and companionship.
- Identify and report any work health and safety issues. Incorporate Child Safe Standards in practice when working with children and young people.
- Identify potential and actual risks, then act promptly and in consultation with the participant. Escalate to your supervisor any situation when the participant is at risk.
- Promoting independence and choice.
