MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
You may be required to work on your own or as part of a team and carry out duties, directions and activities aimed at supporting clients with a disability and/or mental health, in a residential setting, day program or the community.
You will be expected to present a positive and professional image whilst working for Sunnyday Carers.
Your duties will include but not be limited to the following:
- Meet the Duty of Care owed to the residents and others
- Carry out designated tasks, as per roster/managers request
- Produce clear and concise written reports and carry out the relevant administration
- Assisting with daily living skills (including personal care, administering medication, domestic assistance, meal preparation)
- Participate fully in all Person-Centred Planning
- Carry out and promote positive routines/activities in a cooperative and respectful manner, which are relevant to the client
- Provide opportunities for choice, self-advocacy, and participation
- Support clients to establish and maintain relationships and interests through access to the community
- Encourage positive behaviour and effectively manage challenging behaviour
- Follow Policies and Procedures and Code of Conduct and seek assistance where necessary
- Be aware of safe working conditions and implement safe working practices and report any potential hazards and concerns
Qualifications
- Certificate - Disability / Community Participation
- NDIS Orientation Modules and Prevention and Control Infection Training
- NSW Childsafe eLearning Modules
- Manual Handling Certificate
- First Aid Certificate and CPR
Competencies and experience
- Experience in a similar role for at least 2 years
- Being a part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering improved health outcomes to our patients
- Good people skills are a must as this job is all about working very closely with participants
- High level of attention to detail & the ability to multi-task
- Experience in writing assessments and reports to monitor participant’s progress
- Ability to work in team and maintain a good relationship
- Dedication to delivering high quality evidence-based services
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development.
- Compassion and enthusiasm, with a friendly, approachable attitude
- Have worked with people who need hearing assistance
