About You:
We are seeking people who are committed to delivering quality care to people with a disability in our Miranda group home. You will need to be passionate about providing a supportive home environment and be a capable motivated self-starter with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Additionally, the successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate the following,
- Experience in caring for people with psychosocial or intellectual disabilities and the ability to oversee the general day to day tasks of Disability Support care, such as assisting with ADL’s, cooking/assistance with cooking, supervising and assisting people, and medication;
- The ability to comply consistently with policies and procedures, and occupational health and safety obligations and procedures;
- The ability to work positively with others in a team environment;
- excellent interpersonal skills including well-developed written and verbal communication skills, conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving;
- An empathic approach to service delivery, with a flexible and adaptable style, a sense of humour, and keen attention to detail.
About the Role:
This role includes afternoon & weekend shifts on a rotating fortnightly roster. Active night shift hours will be required to assist with leave coverage. The hours of the position will be approximately 38 hours per week (or 76 hours per fortnight).
Duties Include:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Medication administration
- Support with domestic activities
- Assistance with activities of daily living
- Assist with skill building and independence of participants.
- Implementation of participant’s care plan
- Accurate completion of incident reports, progress notes and shift handovers where required.
- Respond appropriately to people presenting with difficult and challenging behaviours; managing crises and incidents.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum Certificate III Disability Support Services
- First aid (Level 3) & CPR
- Medication Administration (Certification/Endorsement)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Minimum 12 months direct support or lived experience
- Current NSW Drivers Licence & reliable transport [preferred]
- Evidence of COVID19 vaccination status inclusive of booster or valid medical exemption.
Screening Criteria:
- National Police check
- Working with Children check or ability to obtain
- Valid NSW Drivers license
- Right to Work in Australia
- Up to date with COVID-19 Vaccinations or valid medical exemption
