Wathaurong is seeking motivated, caring, and committed people to provide support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community members in their own homes.
If you wish to pursue your career in the disability/aged care industry start in a support worker position. We accept all applications - varying ages, experience or inexperience and knowledge, however we are particularly keen to hear from Aboriginal people looking to kick start a career in supporting mob.
If successful you will receive support to achieve the skills required to deliver individualised support, a great opportunity to improve and enhance your skills or transition from a different industry. We are also offering employee support to secure other qualifications including Occupational Therapists; Speech Therapists; Psychologists and Social Workers.
Duties Include:
- Community participation in activities and events
- Assistance with Personal care tasks
- Medication administration
- Use of mobility equipment
- Light domestic assistance
- Meal assistance
- Transport to appointments.
We provide services Monday through Sunday between 0700am and 0900pm.
Requirements
- A passion for supporting people with a disability and/or ageing care needs to have the best life they possibly can.
- Practical written and verbal communication skills.
- General computer skills.
- Ability and willingness to provide personal care.
- Current references
- Mobile phone
- Current drivers licence and reliable and insured vehicle. If transporting Community members, we provide the car.
- NDIS Worker Check, a National Police Check and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Up to date COVID-19 Vaccination mandatory (including 3rd dose/booster)
Wathaurong was formed by community in 1978 as a place of common ground where Aboriginal people could be together and share in a sense of community with formal registration in 1980 to support the social, economic, and cultural development of Aboriginal people, particularly within the Geelong and surrounding areas. Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative Limited is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation governed by an Aboriginal Board who are elected through the Annual General Meeting process annually, with their Chief Executive Officer to operationalise the strategic directives of the Board.
