Established in 2007, Lively Eaters is a private multi-disciplinary Allied Health practice that prides itself on providing quality family-focused therapy for a range of childhood feeding and mealtime disorders. We have Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Infant and Paediatric Mental Health specialists and a Paediatrician who work together striving for the best outcomes for children and their families.
Lively Eaters has Centres in Adelaide (Kensington) and the Adelaide Hills (Littlehampton) and provides services statewide and nationally via telehealth facilities.
Lively Eaters is committed to understanding the ‘whole family’ dynamic in order to assess and assist families with children’s mealtime challenges. As such it strives to provide therapeutic services to meet the needs of each individual family unit, rather than assimilating families into ‘set programs’.
Purpose / about the jobProvide high-level clinical Dietetics and leadership, within Lively Eaters Feeding Therapy as a member of the Dietetics and multidisciplinary team. The Discipline Senior Dietitian (Paediatrics) is required to assess, diagnose and manage feeding disorders, enterally fed children and fussy eaters in the context of a community setting (clinic, home) and as part of the intensive program in an acute hospital setting or other community venue.
In addition, the Discipline Senior is responsible for the ongoing supervision and mentoring of our Dietetics team, clinical education and the advancement and ongoing quality improvement and development of the Dietetics service.
The position is based at Kensington, Littlehampton and the option for a work-from-home day.

- Independently deliver high-level, contemporary paediatric Dietetic clinical services and Feeding Therapy integrating high-level knowledge across a broad range of clinical areas with a varied and complex caseload with infrequent clinical practice supervision. This includes high-level clinical knowledge which encompasses assessment and intervention for the following client groups :
- Paediatric growth and feeding disorders arising from a range of aetiologies including premature birth, enteral tube feeding, cardiac, gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders, anatomical and neurological impairment, metabolic and other complex medical conditions
- Paediatric mealtime challenges due to fussy eating, behavioural responses, environmental impacts
- Children with developmentally delayed feeding milestones
- Children fed via enteral tubes (when required)
- Manage an allocated caseload to deliver feeding therapy, nutrition and dietetic services commensurate with experience (including screening, assessment, intervention and evaluation) across the continuum of care, within a multidisciplinary team and in accordance with professional and ethical standards. This includes independent day-to-day planning, service prioritisation, demand management, administration, service advocacy and resource management activities.
- Provide high-level clinical practice supervision, consultation and leadership to Dietitians, therapy assistants and Dietetics students, utilising a strong evidence base and best clinical practice to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and service.
- Direct the development and delivery of advanced evidence-based paediatric Dietetics, feeding therapy and multidisciplinary clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the Lively Eaters setting, which supports the continuum of care and ensures integrated service provision involving internal and external service providers.
- Ensure that clinical service delivery is enhanced by on-going professional development and is conducted in accordance with the principles of evidence-based practice within a family-focused framework.
- Use high-level communication skills to collaboratively support and mentor all members of the paediatric Dietetics team and the paediatric allied health team at LEFT and external service providers, through professional development and clinical consultation.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, high-level organisation and oral and written communication skills to facilitate professional and client relationships, to facilitate diagnostic consultation, and to provide high-level clinical advice for a diverse and complex caseload to internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively monitor and report to the Director on clinical practices and outcomes within the Dietetics service at Lively Eaters. This may involve initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of paediatric Dietetic services.
Mandatory Qualifications/Professional registration/Other Requirements
- The possession of a tertiary degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, providing eligibility for Australian Practicing Dietitian (APD) status. Copies of relevant qualifications must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Competency and experience in the management of paediatric feeding disorders, tube-fed children and nutritional analysis/recommendations is essential. Experience with feeding therapy is preferred and will be looked upon favourably.
- Proven competency and experience in team leadership, clinical supervision and service development.
- Current DCSI Working with Children clearance which must be maintained throughout the duration of employment
- Current NDIS Worker Screening
- Current Reporting Abuse and Neglect (RAN) certificate which must be maintained throughout the duration of employment
- Current First Aid Certificate which must be maintained throughout the duration of employment
- You will be responsible for your own professional indemnity insurance
- You must be eligible for a Medicare Provider number and be eligible for registration with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIS)
