About the Role
The Discovery Ranger would develop and implement diverse activities and learning experiences for visitors and school groups to the State's national parks and reserves to foster community awareness, appreciation and understanding for conserving the state's natural and cultural heritage.
This role is in a professional and passionate Visitor Experience team who love the outdoors and encouraging others to discover and connect with the national parks.
About You
You must have passion for the natural environment and cultural heritage, with a knowledge base to support engaging educational experiences for schools, community groups and the visitor market. A willingness to continually learn. Able to deal with risks associated with managing groups and working in a outdoor environment to provide optimal safety. An ability to professionally manage groups through effective communication, time management and logistics.
Essential Requirements
  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring this check in line with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.
  • First Aid Certificate and Current Australian Drivers Licence, or willingness to obtain.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including week-days, weekends, public holidays and school holidays
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering interpretative guiding and/or educational programs to students or groups.
  • Awareness of Aboriginal culture and broad knowledge of the natural and historic heritage values of the local area.
  • Sound understanding of Risk Management, Minimal Impact and Bush Safety principles in relation to guided tours in a cultural or field setting.
