Distribution Project Engineer

Overview:

The purpose of this role is to provide engineering support, or Project Engineering of technical projects as required in Distribution Terminals Newcastle and Kurnell.
This support or Project Engineering is to improve the performance, capability, or legislative compliance at the facilities.

This is a 12 month contract initially - there is a potential to extend for another year but no gaurentee's 

The successful person will be part of a small team (4) on one of the most important projects my client has over the next two years. 
You can be based in either the Newcastle area or Kurnell offices. 

• The site based work will be solely based in Newcastle and there will be extended periods of two weeks plus based on site at Newcastle and every 2 months the occasional Saturday will need to be work for cut overs.

This role will require the individual to be able / have the drive if extra fact finding needed, to go out in the field and do measurements.

Essential Experience:

• Min 5 years Brownfield Oil Industry experience.
• Scoping , AS1940 and working to internal standards , management of change process implementation.
• Experience working on projects up from 0.1 to 3 million 
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering - Civil , Structural Mechanical (Must have 5 yrs Brownfield Oil Experience as well)
• Project Management certification beneficial but not essential
• Full working rights for the next 12 months min.

• Provide engineering support to the Project Manager and Team, in order to support efforts to maintain and improve terminal safety, reliability and performance objectives and deliver the Project.
• Provide engineering support to the Project Engineering team & Distribution Capital & Projects Lead for project work supporting efforts to maintain and improve efficiency objectives & Marketing development proposals.
• Work with key stakeholders, clients & project team members to achieve optimal project outcomes through the application of required project management principles across the national Terminal network.
• Role is required to:
  • Develop robust project plans to ensure effective planning for resources.
  • Develop accurate project cost estimates & assist in actively managing cash flows including approvals, forecasting & payment.
  • Ensure project quality in terms of reliability & operability
• Ensure application of engineering discipline in execution of all projects. This will include:
  • Ensuring compliance with approved standards & processes
  • Applying the principles of process safety and behavioural safety including risk assessment, Hazard and Operability studies, Management of Change and Pre-Start Safety Reviews
• Effectively use contract and consulting resources as approved to support project design, and execution. This will include:
  • Working with Procurement and Legal teams to develop appropriate tendering strategies to optimise project outcomes.
  • Ensure appropriate contracts are in place with vendors, consultants and contractors as required.
  • Managing contractor performance, including safety performance, quality, schedule and costs throughout projects.
• Assisting the Project Manager in day to day running of the Project
