The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants to be considered for unaccredited registrar vacancies within the Department of General Surgery for the 2025 training year.The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania Medical School. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.Much of the clinical work in this role involves managing acute / emergency cases as part of the Department of General Surgery's Emergency Surgical Unit (ESU). There is also involvement in outpatient and elective services. The RHH Department of General Surgery offers the major sub-specialty areas (colorectal, UGI, HPB, breast, endocrine) and there would be some opportunities for exposure to those fields. During the year there may be rotations (of ~10 weeks duration) in Paediatric Surgery and/or Trauma, and there is some exposure to Vascular Surgery after-hours.
