Position Description

As a Domestic and Family Violence Children's Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing support and counseling to children and young people impacted by Domestic and Family Violence. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring service delivery is in line with relevant regulatory frameworks and practice standards
  • Providing information, advice, and support to parents/guardians with a specific focus on the needs of their children
  • Intervening in parenting issues and supporting parent-child relationships affected by Domestic and Family Violence
  • Developing and delivering therapeutic group programs for children impacted by Domestic and Family Violence
  • Working collaboratively with other organisations to provide a comprehensive response to the safety and support of women and children
  • Using culturally appropriate tools to engage with clients
  • Providing information, advice, and assistance through advocacy and referral

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual who meets the following criteria:

  • Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or similar OR related qualification supported by significant, relevant experience
  • Experience in working with people in high-risk domestic violence situations
  • Engagement skills with hard-to-reach young people
  • Understanding and responding to indicators of risk
  • Familiarity with the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and the Child Protection Act 1999

Salary & Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary at Level 4 ($41.52) on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, and the opportunity for salary packaging.
