Job description

Job DescriptionThis role forms part of the national Financial Reporting team, supporting the business and our clients in the application of accounting standards and other Financial Reporting regulatory requirements. You will work closely with Partners, Managers and other staff members from multiple parts of the business, leading 2-3 Financial Reporting specialist topic areas and helping to work through complex technical accounting issues, review financial statements for disclosure compliance, develop and provide training to teams on new developments and common issues as well as develop publications for internal and external consumption.This role can be located in Melbourne or SydneyYour Opportunity
  • Provide formal consultations on the application of accounting standards/regulations to specific transactions
  • Coach engagement teams and DPP team members through technical issues, including reviewing junior team members work and provide feedback
  • Become a subject matter expert on specific technical accounting topics though involvement in specific technical accounting subject matter focus groups (e.g. business combinations, financial instruments, impairment, sustainability reporting)
  • Draft technical accounting papers for discussion by the Asia Pacific or Global SME group relating to transactions where there is limited technical guidance
  • Undertake pre-issuance reviews each reporting period - review of financial statements for compliance with disclosure and accounting requirements relating to material items
  • Develop training or tools based on business and client needs
How are you Extraordinary?
  • Advanced experience with the application of International Financial reporting standards and/or Australian Accounting Standards (business combinations, impairment, sustainability and/or financial instruments would be advantageous)
  • Advanced research, analytical and problem-solving skills - capability to analyse and interpret complex information and provide solutions/options with detailed reasoning of risks
  • Exceptional professional judgment skills, encompass a high level of expertise, critical thinking, and sound decision-making capabilities
  • Naturally inquisitive and driven by opportunities for continuous learning and technical development
  • Friendly, professional attitude, pro-active, self-starter with a collaborative team player approach
