Draftsperson - Architectural And Production

One of Canberra’s largest and fastest growing metal work businesses has a position available for an enthusiastic and experienced Draftsperson to join our drafting and design team at Pro Metalwork located in Mitchell.

We are looking for someone who is:

* Self-motivated and has the ability to work well under pressure.

* Strong and confident communication skills both written and verbal.

* Time management and organisation skills.

* Must have attention to detail and accuracy.

* The ability and willingness to liaise with all levels of management is essential.

* Confident in producing CAD drawings accurately and precisely.

The role would involve drafting and have extensive skills in either Autocad or Reddit as a requirement, and will also involve working with our existing Draftsperson. This role will involve the production of concept drawings for approval for construction drawings for manufacture.

This role, although mostly office based, also will involve site meetings, site measures and liaising with clients. Working closely with our Construction Manager and Estimator will be required to set design briefs.

It is crucial that the successful applicant possesses the understanding and knowledge in Architectural and metal fabrication processes and assembly techniques. 

Experience in Metalwork and Engineering sector highly regarded.

Our work varies from large scale commercial projects to also highly detailed smaller residential projects.

A drivers licence, white card and asbestos awareness are required.

Qualifications & experience

• Proven skill and knowledge of the role.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of building design, specifications and codes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in aluminium, stainless steel, balustrades and handrails is highly regarded

Tasks & responsibilities

• Analysing and interpreting plans, building specifications and codes.
• Creating technical drawings from architects drawings and specifications using CAD software.
• Assisting Director, Managers and workers in organisation and planning.
