Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
The Drug Health Forensic Clinician will provide forensic specific services within the WSLHD Drug Health Service, including both court diversion programs MERIT and NSW Drug Court. This involves the assessment and treatment of diverse needs, including the promotion of better health for consumers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
The Drug Health Forensic Clinician is passionate about delivering evidenced based counselling, individual and group treatment at critical time points to support consumer recovery leading to positive outcomes for families and the community. High level and timely reports to Courts are produced with a focus on holistic care and case management as required. The Drug Health Forensic Clinician is well supported by the Drug Health Forensic Team, with the surrounds of specialised supervision and continued professional development opportunities.

Essential Requirements: * Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Counsellor, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist or other university qualification deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Registration: Full registration with AHPRA as Occupational Therapist, Provisional Registration or Full Registration with AHPRA as Psychologist where applicable.
Selection Criteria: * Tertiary qualification relevant to Counsellor, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist
  • Experience undertaking assessments and designing targeted treatment plans for substance use issues and/or mental health needs
  • Experience working in a counselling role and providing treatment for substance use issues and/or comorbid mental health needs
  • Ability to work in court related programs with clients who have engaged in offending behaviour
  • Proven high quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience or exposure to crisis and risk situations, as well as challenging client needs
  • An understanding of the array of psychosocial issues that contribute to substance use problems and capacity to take a holistic approach to treatment
  • Further skills and characteristics specific to your classification or level as set out in the relevant Award
