The Education Officer plays a key role in the development and delivery of outstanding Fighting Extinction Schools learning experiences that meet the needs of learners, educational institutions, and partner organisations: Department of Education and Training (DET) and Catholic Education Commission Victoria, (CECV). The incumbent will ensure that all learning experiences are underpinned by best practice learning theory, meet the needs of learners and are aligned with Zoos Victoria's moral purpose to fight extinction and create a future rich in wildlife.
Key accountabilities of the role:
- Facilitate the development and delivery of learning experiences for our school audience.
- Deliver education programs for students ranging from Kindergarten to VCE through on-site and on-line experiences designed to facilitate student centred learning in an engaging and experiential manner.
- Collaborate with the Education team in the development of specialised programs for these learning experiences.

- Ensure that teaching and learning experiences reflect best practice in current learning theory, curriculum direction and teaching professional standards
- Ensure exemplary professional delivery of engaging learning programs to students and teachers through the Connect Understand Act framework
The ideal candidate will have:
- A proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations, develop networks and to be a persuasive advocate in promoting Zoos Victoria's moral purpose.
- Demonstrated skill in developing innovative education programs and resources to engage and involve a diverse range of students in an inspirational way.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary learning theories and curriculum developments, including STEM pedagogy.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of education programs linked to Victorian Curriculum.
- Experience in developing and maintaining internal and external partnerships.
- Employee status Victorian Working with Children Check card or Victorian Institute of Teaching card
