El1 Assistant Director Legal

EL1 Legal Officer is required a small legal team in a central federal department.

This department is responsible for supporting the Australian Parliament system. 
Your new role 
The Legal Services Division provides strategic legal advice and assistance to the agency’s executive and the Minister. As an EL1 Assistant Director, you will play a critical role in ensuring legal compliance, managing legal risks, and supporting parliamentary operations. 

Provide expert legal advice on legislative matters, policy development, and operational issues.

Manage legal cases, including litigation, disputes, and contract negotiations.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal compliance across the department

Conduct legal research and analysis to inform decision-making.

Assist in drafting legislation, policies, and legal documents

What you'll need to succeed 

In order to be successful in this position, you must have the following: 

Tertiary qualifications in law or a related field.

Demonstrated experience in legal practice, preferably within government or parliamentary settings.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Knowledge of relevant legislation and parliamentary procedures.

You will also need to hold a baseline security clearance.
