EL1-EL2 Economics Advisor
The Design and Program Advice section requires an Economist Advisor with international development expertise/experience to join the team.
The Development Economist will provide strategic and specialist input to support Australia’s development program and its key investments in the Indo-Pacific.
Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide intellectual leadership, policy and programming advice.
• Provide high quality and responsive technical assistance that supports and improves the quality and effectiveness of investments and future programming.
• Support underlying economic analysis and economic assessments for new programs.
• Undertaking analytical activities; value for money assessments and costings of alternate delivery models. Analysing design quality data and trends.

The Development Economist may be required to undertake international and domestic travel.
Required Skills and Expertise

• A degree in Economics or equivalent postgraduate training, professional qualification or experience demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of development economics.
• Understanding of the geopolitics and development context of the Indo-Pacific region, particularly Pacific and/or Southeast Asia.
• Understanding performance and risk frameworks.
• Able to communicate with credibility and authority and convey information to the intended audience that conveys
• Experience in training or capability development desirable.

• Negative Vetting 1 Clearance (NV1) or ability to obtain and maintain.
• Australian Citizen.
