Your new role
As the Assistant Director, Media and Communications, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing comprehensive Media and communication strategies. Your efforts will be instrumental in disseminating knowledge about cancer and establishing robust communication channels to support Cancer Australia's mission.
- Develop and execute innovative health promotion and communication strategies.
- Ensure Cancer Australia's messaging is evidence-based and government-aligned.
- Provide strategic communications advice to the CEO and senior executives.
- Foster relationships with Media and communication advisors.
- Drive engagement with digital platforms and analyse performance metrics.
- Produce high-quality written materials, including media releases and speeches.
- Monitor Media and policy environments, offering timely advice on significant issues.
- Expand media coverage through established contacts and networks.
- Coordinate media interviews and provide briefings for spokespersons.
- Manage budgets and adhere to organisational policies and procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
- Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Government Security Clearance (baseline, NV1, or NV2).
- Tertiary qualifications in media, journalism, communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years' experience in media strategy development and implementation.
- Proven track record working with or for government on Media and Communications strategies.
- Experience in health, medical, science, or related fields.
