Energex has permanent opportunity for an Electrical Fitter Mechanic/Linesperson or Linesperson to be located at Oxley and are inviting applications from suitably qualified Energy Queensland employees and the External Market.
Energex’s Field Delivery is responsible for the safe delivery of the overhead and underground construction and maintenance program of works, as well as the core functions of customer service response, including customer fault response and disaster management, customer connections, customer relationships and provision of metering services. The core tasks are constructing and maintaining overhead/ underground high and low voltage electrical distribution and sub-transmission systems, street lighting mains and customer service line.
The role:
As a Linesperson you will:
- Construct, maintain and repair overhead, high and low voltage electrical distribution and sub-transmission systems, street lighting mains and customer service lines.
- Be trade qualified with a Queensland Electrical Licensing Board Certificate of Competency as an Electrical Linesperson.
- Perform live line methodology on Energy Queensland (Ergon Energy and Energex) networks. Operate within Energy Queensland (Ergon Energy and Energex) requirements for quality, safety and risk assessment compliance.
- Install, repair, commission and maintain various items of electrical equipment and plant.
- Be trade qualified with a Queensland Electrical Fitter Mechanic licence.
- Operate within Energy Queensland (Ergon Energy and Energex) requirements for quality, safety and risk assessment compliance.
Critical to your success in the role is your:
- Demonstrated knowledge of an electricity distribution/transmission system, including construction and maintenance of the electrical network.
- Working knowledge of Electricity Act & Regulations, Workplace Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and other relevant statutory acts & regulations.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills to develop good working relationships with team members and external customers. You must have the ability to identify and understand customer needs.
- Available for call out and emergency work.
- Willing to travel to surrounding areas from time to time to undertake work.
- Current ‘C’ class open Drives Licence

Remuneration for this role is $89K to $92K per annum plus 12.75% superannuation and applicable allowances, working a 9-day fortnight. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.
