How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
As Elections Coordinator, this role is responsible for delivering the Governance work stream as a part of the overall program framework. This work stream focuses on delivering and coordinating CoM’s electoral obligations as laid out in the City of Melbourne Act 2001 (the Act) and City of Melbourne (Electoral) Regulations 2022 (the Regulations) by coordinating activities for formal issue of notice to our communities such as letters regarding entitlement, the commencement of caretaker period, and transitional arrangements for councillors. Working with the Program Manager and the wider program team, the Program Coordinator will project manage Governance and Finance and Corporate activities and deliverables to the end of the Program in February 2025. This position works with all teams in the program and is responsible for the elections work stream and included deliverables such as entitlement notices, Caretaker Period and councillor transition.
What you will bring…

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Knowledge of/or ability to interpret relevant legislation, including the Local Government Act 2020, Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2020, City of Melbourne Act 2001, City of Melbourne (Electoral) Regulations 2022 and the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), and Valuation of Land Act 1960.
  • Experience developing and implementing special projects that require the cooperation of multiple stakeholders, including preparing policy and systems which assist an organisation in effective compliance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Program and Project methodology and tools such as PMP, Waterfall, Agile, Project Planning, Risk and Issue Management, Project reporting.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage strict schedules and changes in priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work as an effective member of a small team.
  • Excellent written and oral skills, including the ability to produce accurate and concise reports on time and in an appropriate form.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service and capacity to develop long-term relations with clients, agents and members of staff.
  • Discretion and judgement in handling sensitive and confidential information.
