About the role
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer with experience in a manufacturing facility to join our team in Kooragang Island on a full-time permanent basis.
Orica Kooragang Island’s manufacturing complex is comprised of an Ammonia plant, three nitric acid plants and two ammonium nitrate plants. The site has significant dispatch operations, capable of providing bagged, containerised or bulk product for distribution.
The successful candidate will be accountable for monitoring the performance of and developing improvement strategies for all I/E equipment, ensuring optimal plant uptime and asset availability. As part of the Reliability team, the incumbent provides technical and engineering leadership to Maintenance Teams and advice to Management. The position has accountability for reporting and recommendations on maintenance and capital expenditure, and has a responsibility to ensure requirements for I/E safety and the day to day and long-term reliability are up to date.
To deliver these responsibilities the Electrical Engineer shall work collaboratively across all Manufacturing Centre departments and across the areas of Work Strategies Management, Defect Elimination, Master Data Management, Conditions Monitoring and Performance Management (KPIs).
What you will be doing
More specifically the Electrical Engineer will deliver the following within their responsible discipline:
- Support and execute all initiatives associated with the improvement and maintenance of site assets through the SAP CMMS.
- Ensure critical I/E equipment and systems are available to meet production requirements & optimize plant performance.
- Implement defined defect/failure reporting and elimination strategies to prioritize plant and process defects, develop root cause analysis and implement solutions to eliminate recurrence and optimize performance.
- Promote understanding and use of reliability tools (e.g. Weibull, FMECA, RBM) across equipment and plant.
- Provide technical expertise & training for changes to I/E Maintenance & Operating Technicians. Work closely with Operations and Technical teams.
What you will bring
- Minimum experience of 3 years in the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry with considerable change management and safety component.
- Bachelor's degree in Instrument or Electrical Engineering.
- Thorough Instrument & Electrical technical knowledge with an emphasis on high voltage apparatus, low voltage switchgear, and distribution, hazardous areas, distributed control systems/programmable logic controllers, and instrumentation.
- Good understanding of maintenance cost analysis and reliability improvement tools and techniques (FMECA, RCM, etc).
- Well-developed Root Cause Analysis, (5-Why, Apollo) problem-solving and decision-making skills.
