Freightquip are the Australasian distributors and service providers for world leading manufacturers of equipment for use in Rail, Seaports and Airport operations. We specialise in providing unique and tailored equipment solutions to meet our customer’s needs.

Located in Tullamarine, Freightquip is a growing organisation with personnel located across Australia and New Zealand.

This role will be based in Brisbane.

About the position

The need for a Electrical Engineering Technician has become available to support equipment in a range of areas such as Rail workshops, Sea ports and Ground Support Equipment for the aviation sector. 

The Electrical Engineering Technician role would be responsible for:

• Equipment servicing including minor repairs and developing service reports.

• Fault-finding of electrical / hydraulic / pneumatic systems, and problem solving when required.

• Assist and perform technical modification upgrades to equipment components and systems such as HMI, PLC, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

• Perform Implementation of OEM issued Service Bulletins and related activities.

• Experience in the process of equipment installation and commissioning and the documentation requirement within a quality system. 

• In charge of their own service schedule – maintaining a high percentage of billable hours. Manage job costings and calculate charge out rates.

• Inspect equipment and calibrate as required to suit customer requirements

• Review equipment against local standards for compliance

Desirable Behavior and required skills are:

• Logical and forward thinking when carrying out Routine Maintenance. 

• Able to extract diagnostic data in order to ascertain root cause of reported fault.

• Logical approach to fault analysis/problems.

• Ability to read and diagnose from electrical and hydraulic schematics.

• Understanding of electrical systems, such as PLCs, CanBus controllers, 80VDC electric drives

• Understanding and experience with hydraulic component servicing and replacement of them.

• Experience with utilizing lifting equipment for the purpose of maintenance and machine installations.

• Self-motivated, self-disciplined and maintain positive attitude.

• Able to cope with varying levels of stress and pressure within the service environment such as travel and remote work locations.

• Able to make decisions/judgements.

• Able to work beyond working hours if required (on weekends and public holidays).

Requirements:

• Electrical qualification, (minimum Trade certificate)

• Current Driver’s license & Passport.

• Willing to participate in mandatory company and customer drug and alcohol testing.  

• Domestic and International travel will be required.
