About Us:

Victory Minerals Pty Ltd is a successful gold explorer and producer in Victoria's gold belt. The company has entered an exciting new era, under new ownership and exploring untapped new opportunities. The primary focus is our high-grade underground gold mine in Ballarat, which started producing gold in September 2011, and produces 40,000 to 50,000 ounces of gold per year. 

The mine is located within the beautiful regional town of Ballarat (located just 100km west of Melbourne), which is experiencing unprecedented growth and development. 

The Role:

A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for an Electrical and Fixed Plant Foreman. Reporting to the Asset Management Superintendent, the Electrical & Fixed Plant Foreman is responsible for maintaining Electrical standards for the entire site (specifically the inspection, maintenance, repair and improvement of all electrically-related equipment and services).  The role is also responsible for maintaining the availability of Fixed Plant equipment, relating to underground mine operations.

Personnel Management:

  • Set leadership safety standards for the Electrical & Fixed Plant team
  • Establish and maintain a proactive safety culture
  • Ensure maintenance standards are met, specifically in the area of electricity, dewatering, and ventilation
  • Prioritise workload depending on the mine plan
  • Prepare, implement, and measure a preventative maintenance program for the site in corroboration with mobile plant and mill maintenance divisions
  • Set six monthly targets for plant availability
  • Utilise the Training department for the development and implementation of SWI’s & SWP’s

Technical:

  • Assist with developing the monthly schedule in conjunction with the relevant mining personnel
  • Input into the preparation of the weekly plan
  • Input into mining equipment for various mining methods

Electrical:

  • All electrical systems on the mine site
  • Maintain Electrical standards and stay abreast of current regulations and requirements
  • Maintain lighting, sub-stations and HV reticulation systems

Fixed Plant availability:

  • Leaky feeder UG communications system
  • UG phone lines and terminals
  • All Fixed Plant located underground including refuge chambers, vent doors, fans, pumps and compressors 
  • Mining related Fixed Plant on surface including Mine water dam pump
  • Provide feedback on performance of Fixed Plant equipment

Workshop responsibilities:

  • Housekeeping – including hazard control
  • Spares and consumables controlled

Production:

  • Interaction with the Mine Foreman on a day-to-day basis to ensure smooth delivery of mine plan.

About You:

To be successful in the role, you will possess:

Mandatory: 

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, establishing and implementing maintenance systems 
  • Excellent interpersonal, team building and communication skills (both written and oral) - Essential 
  • Knowledge and understanding of leaky feeder comms systems
  • Australian Drivers licence 
  • Competency with ERP systems (Pronto ideal)
  • Computer systems capability
  • Excellent attention to detail

Desirable

  • ‘A’ Grade electrician with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining environment
  • HV accredited and registered with Energy-safe Victoria
  • SCADA training and experience with SCADA controlled PLC programs
  • Mono pump training and understanding
