Job description

Our client specializesin surface engineering. They concentrate on developing and applying materials, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the performance and longevity of machinery components.

The ElectricalEngineer is responsible for designing electronic control systems and automation systems for special purpose machines and robotic cells. Under the guidance of the Engineering Project Manager, the incumbent will design, develop, and maintain automation systems to meet project objectives.

Base salary: $120,000 plus superannuation

Key Focus Areas

  • PLC Code and Electrical Control Design
  • HMI set-up
  • Electrical and Control Component Selection
  • Meeting Commissioning Timelines
  • Developing Operating and Installation Instructions and Control Circuits as requested
This role collaborates closely with the Engineering Projects Manager to ensure alignment with strategic sales objectives.Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Design electronic automation systems for special purpose machines and robots, incorporating electro-mechanical, electronic, and computer technology.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, operational documentation, and training materials for equipment, ensuring adherence to quality standards and risk analysis.
  • Work on assignment briefs provided by the Engineering Project Manager and Engineering Consultants.
  • Maintain relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring quality, cost, and time constraints are met.
  • Collaborate with shop floor staff to gather feedback and optimize processes.
  • Assist in PLC library management and control procedural record maintenance.
  • Assist in environmental management efforts such as energy, waste, and water reduction.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Project Manager on non-conformances and corrective actions related to projects.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Design automation control systems for special purpose machines and robots within agreed time frames.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Standards in control design.
  • Deliver accurate and clear PLC code workflow, calculations, and manuals.
  • Work effectively within a team environment to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5years' experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
To be successful, all candidates must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol, Medical, and Police Clearance check.
