Electrical Rolling Stock Design Engineer

Overview

We are currently recruiting an experienced Electrical Rolling Stock Design Engineer to support the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program – a megaproject which will deliver 65 new passenger trains for the Queensland Rail network.

Responsibilities

• Ability to develop and review electrical diagrams and schematics, wiring diagrams, control system layouts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, systems engineers software engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses to optimize system performance and efficiency.
• Prepare, check, review of:
  • electrical engineering calculations, process charts and simulations
  • manufacturing and maintenance instructions
  • specifications, drawings, manuals and technical packages 
• Participate in design reviews, testing, and validation activities, providing technical expertise and troubleshooting support.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree – Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
• Must be eligible for RPEQ
• Knowledge of Vehicle Control Circuits and EAP Battery packages
• Understanding of electrical subsystems such as traction, train control systems, signalling, auxiliary power supply, lighting, communications, cabling.
