Position Summary

The Electrical/Electronics Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, documentation, testing and configuration of a wide range of electronic and electrical hardware and systems under the guidance of senior team members.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake electrical/electronic and control systems design for ship systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory Class/Flag requirements and standards.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings for electrical systems, single lines, control schematics, cable schedules, block diagrams, system architecture and termination diagrams.
  • Ensure the electrical system/equipment is designed to a manufacturable solution and incorporate variations as required.
  • Ensure design integration of electrical/electronic and control systems on vessels.
  • Provide technical design advice to sales and operational functions as required.
  • Control and maintain drawing files and maintain accurate drawing register.
  • Undertake research and analysis of emerging and new technology relevant to Incat vessel electrical/electronic systems.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Proven effective consultation, facilitation, written and oral communication skills for use in a complex production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with design and technical documentation in a regulatory environment.
  • High level problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare technical documents and perform calculations and reports to a high standard.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships and partnering with team members.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary Qualifications in electrical or electronics engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a design environment.
  • High level of computer design literacy using Autocad Electric or similar
