Who are Flowbird?

We are Flowbird, an international company headquartered with over 40 years of experience delivering solutions for public transport, mobile payments, on-street parking, off-street parking, and electric vehicle charging across the world.

Our worldwide statistics are impressive; we have solutions in over 4000 towns and cities in over 80 countries, we have 1500 employees, we have deployed 600k connected devices, we process over 400m banking transactions of $5b a year, and we generate $550m in annual revenue.

In Perth, Flowbird’s local hardware and software engineers support Perth and regional Western Australia’s current public transport solution. Our solution is going through a major multi-phase upgrade project, and we need an Electronics Bench Technician to join our team to work with us to deliver and maintain this solution.

What does an Electronics Bench Technician (Entry Level) do?

Our Electronics Bench Technicians’ primary responsibilities are focussed on the devices we are deploying as part of our project. Faults happen, so we need you to have skills in:

  • Fault-finding of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment
  • Level 2 Replacement of module and component assemblies where applicable
  • Soldering and de-soldering of surface mount devices
  • Reading and understanding circuit diagrams

Therefore, we require you to have a trade certificate, diploma, or certification in electronic principals, and have had some experience working with industrial electronics. We’ll provide you with an overview of our equipment and provide you with typical electronic workshop instruments so that you can get involved quickly.

What else do you need for this role?

We’re a small team, so extra skills go a long way to becoming an integral part of our East Perth business. As well as your electronics skills we also need you to:

  • Have competent computers skills; we use spreadsheets, documents, emails, and service management software to ensure all our work is logged for our customers
  • Be confident in working autonomously and without direct supervision; this means you’ll often be responsible for your own time management and activity prioritisation
  • Be comfortable working in our workshop environment with other Electronics Bench Technicians; our East Perth office also has other technical and support staff too, and we all work well together in a respectful and harmonious working environment
  • Follow our written and verbal work instructions and procedures
  • Good knowledge of Perth Metro area and how to get around
  • Be physically fit and must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, full functional assessment, Drug and Alcohol screening, and Police Clearance.

Who will you be working with?

Flowbird’s international business means there’s a diverse and friendly team of colleagues across the country and the world who you’ll be working with:

  • Flowbird Perth, our small but growing team focussed on supporting our existing solution and preparing our major project activities in Perth:
  • You’ll report to our Perth Workshop Leading Hand
  • As this role is hands-on, we need you working in our workshop in East Perth each day
  • Flowbird Sydney, our small team of specialised staff supporting all of our APAC projects, which as well as Perth includes Sydney, Canberra, and developing new business across the region
  • Flowbird UK, our large team of management, sales, developers, engineers, technicians, helpdesk, and many other departments
  • Our APAC customers; these are local state government transport authorities, and the public transport operators which run the services
  • Our suppliers and service contractors who play a crucial role in supporting our deliveries

Why should you apply for this job at Flowbird?

There are plenty of great reasons apply for this role at Flowbird, including:

  • This is a significant role in supporting a major public transportation project that will benefit all of Perth and regional Western Australia for many years to come
  • You will be an integral part of a growing team as our business and staffing expands in Perth
  • Flowbird’s business development will give you opportunities for involvement and contribution to all our future projects
  • Numerous employee benefits for discussion at your interview

Does this sound like you?

If you think you’re right for this role we look forward to hearing from you!
