The Role
In search of an enthusiastic ACEM Trainee eager to merge the dynamic elements of rural and regional medicine with an exclusive gem of Western Australia's concealed charm, both in terms of location and lifestyle.
  • The ideal candidate should be at least at PGY4 level
  • Possess prior experience in Emergency Medicine, and
  • Must be registered with the Australian Medical Board, as well as registered as a trainee with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.

This health Service is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia.

The Location
Our client is situated in the picturesque south-west corner of Australia, the region is known for its extensive natural beauty and all year round climate. Perched on the state’s southern tip, it is a city of beauty and opportunity. Historic and progressive, rural and dynamic, a tourist draw and a homemaker’s dream. Situated 420kms away from Perth, with convenient air links.

The HospitalThe facility underwent redevelopment in May 2013. From here, healthcare is delivered to more than 59,000 of the regions local residents and visitors.  As the Regional Hospital it also supports the Greater Southern smaller hospitals to provide improved clinical services to residents closer to home.  The facility has 81 overnight, 31 same day and 16 inpatient mental health beds with the latest technology and IT application. The Emergency Department has 2 resuscitation bays, 9 acute cubicles, 4 fast-track cubicles, an ED Short-Stay Unit, and integrated computerised work management, as well as pathology and radiology systems.

The team includes a growing cohort of dedicated, locally based FACEMs, specialising in teaching/simulation, ultrasound, and research. The roster consists of 4-6 doctors per shift, including the FACEM, ensuring excellent supervision and a learning environment akin to an apprenticeship. They hold accreditation for a 24-month Emergency Medicine Training program with ACEM.

Essential Requirements

  • Must hold or be eligible for Registration with the Australian Medical Board.
  • Be at least PGY4 level and must have previous Emergency Medicine experience.
  • Must be registered with the Australian Medical Board and registered as a trainee wit the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.
