Why this role matters

The Doorways program provides person centred care to community members experiencing financial or other forms of hardship through the provision of financial and material Emergency Relief. Case management is provided at some of the Doorways sites to engage people through early intervention as well as address long term disadvantage to break the cycle of poverty and alleviate financial hardship. Our practitioners are strength based and trauma informed in their practice to build individual capacity, resilience and wellbeing.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven Emergency Relief Assessor who will be responsible for assessing community member needs and determining appropriate financial assistance (Emergency Relief) and/or referrals, as required.

You will successfully
  • Conduct interviews and assessment for Emergency Relief (ER) with community members in accordance with Doorways guidelines
  • Determine the assistance to be provided in line with Doorways standards of practice
  • Community members are assisted to access support services through referral and advocacy to service providers within and external to The Salvation Army, where appropriate
  • Escalate complex or unresolved matters
  • Accurate, up-to-date client records and data is maintained for all clients in accordance with TSA standards and procedures, using all relevant TSA systems including SAMIS
You will have
  • Diploma level (preferred) or Certificate IV (minimum) qualification in a related field (Community Services etc)
  • Experience working in the community services sector
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds would be beneficial.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment (contact centre) would be highly regarded (for Phone Line ER Assessors)
  • Acurrent and valid Working with Children's Check

This is a full-time, permanent position located in Sunshine Coast, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 3.
