Engineering Design Manager - Mechanical

Our client is a leading OEM of underground mining equipment located on the outskirts of Newcastle.

Due to a strong increase in product orders they are now requiring a Engineering Design Manager - Mechanical expertise , as well as a proven background in a fast paced manufacturing environment of underground mining equipment 

In this role you will be responsible for providing direction, expertise and leadership to a team which will include; 

• Managing and mentoring the team
• Key management of resources and budgets
• Driving project performance, quality and delivery
• Monitor and report on work schedules against agreed criteria.
• Plan and create schedules that meet production targets
• Be the driving force of the team's progression and encouraging a culture of innovation and value add
• Conducting design reviews and preparing design reports

To be successfully considered for this rare opportunity you must have:

• Mechanical Engineering degree 
• Minimum 5-years Mechanical Engineering experience
• Extensive team leadership skills
• Strong report writing skills
• Experience auditing other engineers design work
• Inventor experience
• Advanced FEA expertise (hand calculations and 3D modelling)
• Hydraulics experience (desirable)
