What does the role involve?

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for all Engineering operations across two manufacturing facilities, in Mount Waverley and Rowville including plant maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and supervision of maintenance staff.

You will plan and execute capital and continuous projects from concept to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget. You will lead maintenance teams in carrying out predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of the plant and equipment and ensure that facilities are maintained to achieve the best possible output.

What do we need in the role?

You will be pivotal in providing leadership and fostering individual accountability while ensuring consistently high standards within our maintenance team. You will collaborate with the Production leaders to drive process and equipment improvements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Leveraging your strong technical expertise, you will bring substantial credibility and skill to the position and be adept at cultivating and nurturing relationships with internal stakeholders.

What responsibilities form part of this role?

  • Ensuring all equipment, maintenance staff, and contractors carrying out works onsite are with OH&S requirements, standards, policies & procedures
  • Leading the Maintenance team to ensure effective operation of the site to maximise efficiency and cost
  • Effectively managing maintenance activities within allocated costs and support with annual budgets and forecasting
  • Working with key stakeholders to identify and implement operation improvement projects.
  • Planning and executing technical projects from concept to completion, ensuring value and benefit for expenditure 
  • Ensuring all equipment and machinery are operating in a well-maintained and functional manner.
  • Employing relevant metrics and analytical tools to pinpoint opportunities for process enhancement, aiming to minimise rework, enhance quality, optimise line efficiency, boost revenue, and facilitate achievement of business targets.

Specific skills/qualifications needed

We are looking for an outstanding candidate with the following skills and experience:

Qualifications required:

  • Tertiary/formal qualifications in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) or similar 

Experience required will include:

  • 10 years minimum previous maintenance and engineering management experience within a manufacturing operations environment - FMCG, Food or Pharmaceutical.
  • Financial and/or accounting skills with a strong commercial or business focus
  • Previous experience managing multiple capital projects.
  • Experience successfully leading maintenance teams and the ability to drive/improve a strong culture.
  • Familiarity with modern ERP systems
  • An eye for continuous improvement and motivation to create change to improve processes
