The role
The role of the Engineering Manager is multifaceted, encompassing leadership, technical expertise, project management, and collaboration. The Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects while meeting quality, safety, and client satisfaction standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and contractors to define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
- Ensure that construction projects align with safety regulations, industry standards, and client expectations.
- Provide effective leadership and mentorship to a team of construction engineers.
- Foster a safety-focused and collaborative work environment.
- Manage performance, set expectations, and provide guidance to ensure the team's success.
- Utilise in-depth knowledge of construction engineering principles, materials, and methods to guide project teams.
- Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and regulations.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety protocols.
- Work closely with project managers to develop and manage project designs.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their project requirements and expectations.
- Proficiency in delivering engineering operations, particularly on the commissioning side.
- Drafting specifications and collaborating with project managers to guarantee successful project completion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5-10+ years) in a leadership role in construction engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) licence preferred.
- Recognised by Engineering Australia – Chartered Engineering desirable.
Skills
- Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and project design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with construction software and project management tools.
- PLSCADD proficiency required.
- Ensuring compliance throughout all phases of the process
