Engineering Manager

Location - ECB - Clontarf, Brisbane.

About the role:

As the Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development, validation, and launch of our products. Your leadership will ensure that every product meets rigorous specifications, performance standards, quality benchmarks, timelines, and cost targets. 

In this role, you will champion safe working practices and uphold stringent product development processes, fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the Engineering team. Your commitment to building a high-performing team will be instrumental in driving innovation and maintaining our industry-leading standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a customer-focused culture internally and externally, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders across functions and entities.
  • Optimise staffing, allocate resources, and manage performance through benchmarks and reviews.
  • Coach, train, recruit, and retain staff, providing growth opportunities and ensuring compliance with industrial agreements.
  • Direct team strategy, manage projects, and provide insights on risks and resources.
  • Work on new projects, assist with costing, identify value opportunities, and secure intellectual property.
  • Optimise product development, ensuring quality and compliance with standards. Implement effective processes.
  • Make data-based decisions for capital expenditure and resource planning, meeting cost and margin targets.
  • Foster cross-functional relationships, support product concerns, and oversee production requirements and testing.

About You:

  • Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical (mandatory).
  • Professional Membership to CPEng and RPEQ membership or eligibility (mandatory).
  • Proven production design experience, ideally gained in sheet metal fabrication (mandatory).
  • Knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, drafting techniques and standards (mandatory).
  • Extensive engineering design experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Previous experience in a management position.
  • Sound experience with3D CAD modelling including FEA (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design for manufacture and AS1100 drawing standards
  • Extensive end-to-end Project Management experience (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated ability with coaching and building a positive team environment as well as coaching
