Lead and manage complex engineering design projects relating to appliances, equipment, and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/PPC) to evolve and improve organisational capability to deal with operational risk and support frontline operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage technical projects including overseeing the design, development and implementation of innovative solutions across appliances, equipment, and personal protective clothing to meet operational requirements.
- Develop and manage procurement strategies and negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure the best value and quality, maintaining compliance with procurement policies and relevant legislation and ensuring transparency and accountability across all procurement activities.
- Oversee risk and mitigation assessments to ensure all technical projects adhere to safety standards and minimise risks through innovation.
- Keep up to date with knowledge of evolving industry standards, technologies, and trends to enhance service delivery, organisational and community outcomes.
- Provide leadership and expertise in the development and evaluation of engineering projects, while monitoring and analysing technological advancements and industry trends to promote continuous improvement
- Embed a purpose-driven culture and effective people management practices to drive member engagement and service delivery to the community.
- Lead a proactive approach to the continuous improvement of work health and safety, ensuring safe systems of work and management commitment to member wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
– Degree or Graduate Certificate in a relevant discipline (e.g. program management, engineering, technical design, business management).
– Expertise in technical design management, research and problem-solving.
– During periods of major activity, the incumbent may be required to support operational management activities consistent with their skills and background.
Key Knowledge and Experience
– Ability to develop and implement complex research and development projects.
– Maintain currency with industry trends and innovation.
– Genuine appreciation and understanding of a volunteer-based community service.
