What You Will Be Doing
The Enrolled Nurse (medication endorsed) with relevant mental health qualification, and or experience will join our Aged Persons Residential Support Program at Peninsula Health-Aged Persons Community Mental Health Community Program in a Temporary Part Time position - Mon to Fri.
The Aged Persons Community Mental Health Program is a specialist multi-disciplinary and integrated service that provides care coordination through an assertive outreach model for persons 65 years and older, experiencing severe and persistent mental health disorders. The team provides a broad range of treatment, case management, care interventions and support for those clients living in the Peninsula Health Mental Health Service catchment.
The Residential Support Mental Health Clinician will provide specialist assessment and treatment to persons in residential aged care facilities that have a diagnosis of Dementia including Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia/Neurocognitive Disorders. A key feature of the role will be education, consultation and collaboration/partnerships.
The mental health clinician will provide urgent community based assessment and short term treatment interventions to assist to patient and aged care facility staff in the care of the person.
What You Need
The successful applicant will be a Registered Enrolled Nurse - Endorsed with advanced interpersonal skills and preferably have a broad range of experience in mental health and in particular aged persons mental health. They should possess skills in assessment, treatment, consultation, risk assessment and recovery; and advantageous would be to have a thorough understanding of the mental health system, as well as other community resources available.
