The Sydney Hospital/Sydney Eye Hospital Outpatient Department is a group of outpatient clinics incorporating; Sydney Eye Hospital Outpatient Department, Kogarah Eye Clinic located in Chapel Street, Kogarah, a General Outpatient Department and a TB (Tuberculosis) Outpatient service.
The Sydney Eye Hospital Outpatient Department is a Centre of Excellence, a tertiary and quaternary referral centre for specialist ophthalmic services, providing a comprehensive general and ophthalmology service incorporating consultation, diagnostic and treatment services, with facilities for adults and children. The Enrolled Nurse delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital consistent with SESLHD and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital policies, procedures and standards.
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and assists in the provision of nursing care. Enrolled Nurses retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions.

Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

- Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Holds a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, other care providers, hospital clinicians, immediate team members and other stakeholders
- Supports working in a person centred environment
- Current professional practice knowledge base
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
- Knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Enrolled Nurse in applying these principles.
