About the role

Our Donor Mobile Units and Pop-up blood donation sites seek an Enrolled Nurse with fantastic customer-facing experience and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional service to our Donors. As an Enrolled Nurse with the South Australian Mobile team, you will support our Donors through their donations by travelling with our operated mobile donor centres throughout the vibrant rural regions of South Australia, travelling regionally, rurally and locally to collect life-saving blood donations.

As a travelling team, the South Australia Mobile Unit includes both Car (vehicle provided) and aeroplane travel, with many of our sites requiring travel away from home for up to 4 days per week. In 12 weeks, approximately 8 weeks of this time will incorporate travel and accommodation away from Adelaide CBD; please note - some months incorporate more travel than others, pending demand for our life-giving products.

A day in the Centre, could see you:

• Greet and interview potential Donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
• Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
• Set up machines, various tubing and collection bags
• Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
• Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process
• Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
• Monitor Donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program balances on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure you are well supported. Besides having a genuine passion for delivering a fantastic donor experience, you'll need to be able to:

• Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
• Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
• Use your nursing expertise and hold a current AHPRA registration
• Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday
• Hold a current Australian Driver's License with no restrictions.
• Be comfortable travelling/driving long distances (up to 4 hours)
• Work 10-hour shifts, four days per week.
