Medical Ward Five at Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced Enrolled Nurse for a permanent part-time role, working 56 hours per fortnight.
Medical Ward Five is a secure facility located on the ground floor of the ward block specifically designed to care for patients with delirium and dementia.
Whilst ideally seeking applicants with previous experience caring for patients with delirium and dementia, training and support will be provided for who don't have this experience.

The opportunity
The Enrolled Nurse provides patient centred nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and in accordance with the Practice Standards as identified by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Medical Ward Five
Medical ward focuses on addressing acute medical conditions commonly experienced by the elderly population, emphasizing a holistic approach that considers the specific challenges and requirements associated with aging.
The primary focus of the unit is to provide specialized care, treatment, and management strategies that cater to the complex cognitive, emotional, and behavioural symptoms associated with delirium and dementia.
Our unit is a specialized healthcare facility designed to provide comprehensive care and support for individuals experiencing cognitive impairment, particularly delirium and dementia.
Medical Ward 5 is a 30-bed unit. It has two different units

• Medical Ward 5 – Non secure unit (17 beds).
• Medical Ward 5 – Secure Unit.(13 beds) – provides specialised care for people who live with severe dementia complicated by physical aggression or other behaviours, in a secure environment.

Role requriements

• Mandatory: Diploma of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
• Highly Desirable:Evidence of completion of modules related to medication administration and peripheral intravenous therapy.
• Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

• Ability to contribute to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of person centred nursing care under the delegation of the registered nurse.
• Compliance with organisational mandatory training requirements
• Ability to work as an effective member within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
• Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
• Ability to demonstrate own ongoing professional development.

Generous remuneration package value up to $47,036 p.a.comprising:

• Salary rates between $34.88 - $37.01 p.h. (NG3)
• Annual leave loading + leave
