Entry level E-commerce role for Business or IT graduate

Operations Assistant - Glebe / Sydney Uni location

We're an education content and technology business seeking an organised, tech savvy and friendly person to help us with, and then take control of, our print production and online order fulfilment activities. 

No experience is needed, but there's a bit to learn, so you should be keen to jump in, ask questions and have a go!

It's a pretty varied role, and there's lots of scope for growth. If you've studied Business or IT at uni, you'll be able to apply your knowledge to this role. We want to help you learn and succeed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Picking, packing & dispatch of customer orders
• Operating printers (don't worry, training will be provided)
• Planning print production schedules with editorial staff
• Inventory management such as stocktakes and quality control checks
• Ordering production, warehouse and packaging consumables

Requirements for the applicant:

• Be organised and willing to take responsibility for tasks
• General computing and at least basic Word/Excel knowledge
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Must be able to lift a 15kg box
• A friendly manner paired with a hands-on, can-do attitude would be awesome!

These things would also be awesome in an applicant:

• Prior experience working in a team
• E-commerce, retail or warehousing experience
• An interest in or experience with systems design and/or software development

About the Role

Most of your time will be spent preparing and sending out online orders, and helping out with our print production. You will learn the ropes from existing staff who are doing the work, then as time goes on, take responsibility for those tasks.

Our core business is publishing educational textbooks and online learning content, so the work loads are seasonal, which means that the job changes quite a bit throughout the year. One month there might be lots of production printing, the next month we might focus on stocktakes and inventory, then loads of online orders to dispatch at start of semester (and additional casual staff at different times). Our quiet times are an opportunity for us to develop and improve our internal systems.

The company is investing heavily in online learning, in both producing content and building software platforms to make e-learning better. The textbooks we print are an important part of our product offering.
