About Kimberley Ports Authority

The Kimberley Ports Authority (KPA) is Based in the town of Broome, Western Australia. The Authority operates the Port of Broome and has the regulatory responsibility for the ports of Derby, Yampi Sound and Wyndham, also in the Kimberley region of WA. KPA employs more than 80 staff delivering a diverse range of operational and administrative services. 

The Role:

This role is residential Based in Broome and is a Mon- Fri role - not FIFO.  

Reporting to the GM Sustainability, you will work as a key member of the Sustainability team. The role will work closely with other areas of KPA to ensure that matters of Environment and Heritage are appropriately considered in the business decision making processes. In this ‘hands on’ role your responsibilities will be diverse and will include:

• Providing oversight of KPA’s Environment and Heritage management at its ports;
• Managing the Port of Broome Environmental Management System and coordinating the associated activities, including working towards obtaining environmental certification ISO14001;
• Monitoring environmental compliance through audits, reviewing KPA and third-party activities and obtaining relevant licences and approvals;
• Coordinating KPA’s environmental monitoring programs and implementing new programs as required,
• Providing oversight on contaminated sites management;
• Coordinating the management and reporting of environmental data; and
• Developing, coordinating and implementing relevant Environment and Heritage plans including GHG scoping and emissions plan, port heritage plans, renewable energy, climate change risks adaptation strategy and environmental sustainability planning.

About You:

This role will suit you if your experience matches your passion in your specialty of Environment & Heritage. You will have a thorough understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth environmental and Heritage legislation, standards and codes of practice. Your previous experience in environmental management will contribute to your success in this role.  You will be the type of person who is solutions focused, likes to be challenged and can focus on big picture outcomes for the organisation. Relevant degree level qualification highly regarded.
