About this part of our organisation:
Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Lady Loretta Mine (LLM) is situated approximately 140kms northwest of Mount Isa. We have a compact owner’s team of employees who oversee and work closely with our contract mining partner to extract high grade zinc, silver and lead which is transported to Mount Isa for further processing. Typically, our team work on an 8/6 FIFO roster from either Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns, other options may be considered such as DIDO from Mount Isa if required.
About your potential new position:
Your primary purpose will be to work collaboratively with the team and our partners to deliver quality environmental outcomes and to adhere to Glencore and regulatory standards.
Some of your activities and responsibilities shall include:
- Monitoring and reporting on environmental performance, including participation in monitoring programs.
- Providing accurate and consistent environmental advice and promote continuous improvement.
- Liaising and communicating effectively across multiple levels of the workforce and third parties.
- Managing environmental projects and assisting with the development of Environmental Authority amendments
We expect you to have:
- Tertiary qualifications in the field of Environmental Science / Environmental Management
- A strong safety focus, required for promoting site safety standards.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver consistent high quality results.
Other areas we’d regard well are experience working in or around a mining or similar environment and exposure to project management.
